J.W. Williams, Inc. opened its doors in Casper, Wyoming on July 15, 1963 and has the oldest ASME Code facilities in Wyoming. Much of the company's success is due to its founder John William Williams and his son, J. Max Williams. In the sixties and seventies, John designed customized equipment such as free water knock-outs and special separators to handle 120-130 degree gas dripping with paraffin. He also developed distribution rings for glycol absorber towers that more evenly distributed the glycol through the tower's packing, now an industry standard.

Max Williams became the President in 1986 and under his management J.W. Williams Inc. refined the design of many of its products, developed extremely efficient BTEX Controls and VOC natural draft combustors, and designed unique trailer-mounted high-pressure sand traps. J.W. Williams, Inc. continues to set the industry standard in its skid-mounted combination separation/dehydration wellhead combination units. In 2003, the Measurement Systems Division was added to compliment J.W. Williams Inc.'s equipment manufacturing and field services, as was J.W. Williams Inc.'s second ASME manufacturing plant in Waller, TX. J.W. Williams Inc. continues to respond to the needs of its customers and expand; its third ASME shop in Odessa, TX, opened in January of 2007.

Today, J.W. Williams, Inc. is owned 100% by Canadian Flint Energy Services LTD (FESL) of Calgary, Alberta, which is a publicly traded company and listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol "FES." C.W. Flint started his business, Tulsa Rig, Reel and Manufacturing, in Tulsa, Oklahoma during 1907. The company became a major supplier of drilling and pumping equipment for the burgeoning oil industry. Within a few years, he expanded his business to include lumber sales and derrick construction projects.

In 1920, American Steel Derrick Company and KS Flint Rig Company were founded. Years later KS Flint Rig Company was named Flint Engineering & Construction.

Flint Industries became a "blanket" corporation over Flintco, Flint Engineering & Construction, and Flint Steel, all of which were later consolidated into Flint Resources Corporation.

1998 saw Flint Engineering & Construction purchased by a Canadian investment group that became Flint Energy Services Ltd. (FESL). In 2001, FESL merged with IPEC (who purchased J.W. Williams, Inc. in 1998); they decided to keep the Flint name. The Flint U.S.A. operations, Flint Energy Services Inc., inherited J.W. Williams, Inc.

Since 2001, Flint Energy Services Inc. has acquired Chaparral Construction, Cantu Lease Service, and Western Slope Oilfield Services. They are headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma and have offices throughout the U.S.A.
